My Thoughts

Now let's see if Chicago can marshal similar resources for the education and safety of its youth, particularly those on the South Side and the West Side. Let's resolve to give our young people and ...their families HOPE and FUTURE.
Let the people of Chicago work to ensure that this type of violence will stop: http://bit.ly/1SoL4a http://bit.ly/127T3T
The CHICAGO Olympics Bid was an $80 Million fiasco - let's show the world what we are really made of, by thinking LONG Term and concentrating on what REALLY Matters!!! These young people in Chicago are our FUTURE. After all the 2016 Olympics would just be a 12-day flash in the pan!

| Anyone who still that Chicago deserved the Olympics more than Rio needs to read this article: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-teen-beating-funeral-04oct04,0,5307465.story The young man who was slaughtered on September 24, 2009 was an honor roll student who should have had the opportunity to strive for a promising future. He was living in the hometown of the President of the U.S., who is regarded by many as the leader of the Free World. Instead, he got a 3-hour send off to a plot in a cemetery. Yet Chicago spent nearly $100 million to promote getting the 2016 Olympics. What in the heck does this say about our value system? Thomas Jefferson once stated, "I tremble in fear when I reflect that God is a just God." |
2016 Olympics for Chicago - Just Say NO!!!
Five reasons I hope Chicago is NOT selected for the 2016 Olympic
Games:
1) Negative economic impacts to people in lower socio-economic classes in the city.
2) The Chicago taxpayers are on the hook for any possible financial losses.
3) The media has uncovered people who are in the Mayor's Olympic Games Committee who stand to gain substantially because of their speculative land investments if Chicago is awarded the 2016 Olympic Games.
4) It would be horribly misspent resources because I don't believe Chicago is ready for the 2016 Olympic Games. Chicago has issues with urban youth violence that need to be resolved before working towards such an enormous project. View the video at this link and you can see just one recent example of the insane violence in this city: http://bit.ly/127T3T
5) Each time a city hosts the Olympic Games, the media reports on the local culture and people of the city. Would Chicagoans be proud to show this video to the world?
Conclusion: 2016 Olympic Games for Chicago? NO! 2020 Olympic Games for Chicago? - Maybe! Let's just clean up Chicago before we do something like hosting an International Sporting Event such as the Olympic Games.
